The best hat that I have found so far... Nov 11, 2011
By Jim In Alaska Last year I purchased an "Eddie Bauer Oiled Canvas Fedora" hat while in Oregon (at an Eddie Bauer factory outlet for about $25; Amazon ASIN B005MRBCBW, presently about $25 plus $8 shipping) for use in the sun and rain there as well as in the tropics where we were moving to. The hat is well made and I like it flexibility and durability -- it can be flattened or rolled for travel and storage. I store it flat under the front seat of the care and have essentially have taken it everywhere. The hat has worked well at shedding heavy rain and provides some sun protection.
More recently I purchased this hat ("Large Khaki Classic Cotton Adjustable Hat" by Sloggers (Amazon ASIN: B001G9GABC, presently $17.70 w/free shipping)) while overseas in the tropics for about $25. Although the Eddie Bauer hat is a good hat, I prefer the Slogger. The reasons for this preference is that the Slogger has a wider brim (for rain and sun protection), it's lighter weight, and it has a more comfortable fit -- and it has the same "take everywhere" flexibility and durability of the Eddie Bauer hat.
Although I prefer the Slogger, I have given both hats a 5-star rating because they both are good hats.

The Perfect Hat Dec 10, 2009
By Beaumont Hardy

This is the third Sloggers hat I've ordered, and it's absolutely perfect. The hats are for my father, who wants full protection from the sun and clothing with SPF. This hat has both. Its brim is wide and provides full shade, and its fabric is treated with a sunscreen. The chin strap is perfect for windy conditions, and the hat's adjustable width is also very handy.
NOT a large hat May 15, 2012
By Katie I bought this hat because it was labeled "large" and "adjustable." Unfortunately, this hat is actually rather small and while it is adjustable, you will only need to adjust it if you have a small head. I have a hard time finding hats large enough for my head, and I was hoping this would turn out to be big enough, but it is way too small. This may be a great hat, but I will never know because I can't wear it.
