5Excellent guitar stand  May 15, 2007
By W. Rossiter "Fuzzworth"
This stand works like a charm--holds guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, etc. etc--anything with a neck and peghead. Adjusts easily and securely. Has an elastic strap to keep instrument from falling out of the suspension fork, but I've never found it necessary to use.

Folds into a nicely compact form, and it's sturdy enough, but its chief virtue is that it suspends the instrument by the peghead (sorry, you post-moderns who play the "headless" guitars) and doesn't have the bottom bracket to get tangled in the strap when you need to change instruments quickly.

One caution--depending on the shape of the peghead and placement of your machine heads you may find that the suspension fork can nudge the tuning pegs. I haven't found it a problem, but if you have a banjo, for instance, with easy-turning planetary tuners, you might need to be careful in "hanging" the instrument.

4Clever, solid design for guitar stand- does not hold mandolins  Jan 30, 2010
By Matthew J. Gordon "barabajagal"
Contrary to the prior reviewer "Fuzzworth"- this guitar stand cannot be adjusted to safely hang a mandolin. A mandolin can not reach the padded legs.

It is a great guitar stand though. The "hanging from yoke against padded legs" design- also shared by the Hercules 414B - is ingeniously simple, and works great for guitars.

The slightly more expensive Hercules 414B offers automatic closing and opening arms at the yoke, rather than the rubber band thingie that straps across the yoke that comes with this one. Ultimate also makes a more expensive one with that same kind of automatic-arm mechanism- the Ultimate GS-1000. Buyers may want to opt for that feature- it makes it easier to grab and place the guitar with one hand. At the time I bought it, I didn't think it was worth springing for the extra $10 or $15, but now I wish I had.

The only other disappointment with this stand is that it does not come with a carrying bag like the small Fender stands, though I guess it doesn't really need one.

All in all a great value for the price, but it would be even better if they could pad the vertical tube to enable hanging mandolins, so that one could easily trade a guitar and mandolin back and forth at gigs.

5Great stand  May 30, 2008
By David Bokhour "working musician"
I've been a bassist for over 30 years. I had a small ultimate stand before this one that was great, but doesn't hold my new bass as well. On a ship contract recently, they had these and I think it's the best stand I've used, so I bought one for myself. Very solid, (even during rough seas) and I don't have to worry about the stand marking my instrument. Easy on, easy off and it folds up reasonably small, though not tiny. Build seems solid. I play over 100 dates a year and I've had cheaper stands that lasted 10 years, so I'm not expecting any quality issues.

5Awesome guitar stand  Jul 19, 2009
By L. Romero "Luis from SD"
I've always used the standard guitar stands with the bottom support. I was a little hesitant to get this one since it doesn't have that support. This stand, however, is awesome. The guitar is held firmly from the top. Protective rubber helps prevent any scratches as well as the guitar from slipping. There's also a strap you can use to secure it. The legs are covered with protective material to allow the guitar to rest on them without scratching it. The nice feature is that it packs really well and compact, unlike most of the stands with the bottom support. I highly recommend this stand.

5Great Quality and Convenience  Jan 12, 2009
By T. Abbott
The reviews I read were very helpful in fiding the stand I wanted. This stand is super cheap and just outstanding. It even feels solid and well built. I really was suprised what I got for my money and am extreamly satisfied.
