5Simple and basic 6 or 12 volt lead acid charger  Jun 24, 2010
By G. Wong
This is about as simple as a charger can get. An AC plug in transformer with a voltage select switch and color coded alligator clips at the end of the cord. It charged both of my batteries (6 and 12 volt) without any problems and gets only slightly warm to the touch. The charge rate varied between 400 ma to 40 ma (depending on battery condition) and produces pulsating DC.

4Seemed to take care of beeping house alarm!  Aug 08, 2011
By Paul Johnson "Rock"
Arrival of very hot weather seemed to coincide with annoying beeping of my house alarm. Further investigation determined that the battery needed charging.

12V sealed lead-acid batteries of the type used in many house alarms are pretty expensive. Fortunately, they are rechargeable. This charger only costs about 1/4 to 1/3 of the price of a new battery.

I let it charge during a weekend for a total of about 12-16 hours. I don't recommend leaving things like this charging while you're away from home or asleep, just in case.

No more beeping, so it seems to have worked. The charger does NOT have an LED light or other feature to indicate that it is "on" or whether in fact it is "done" charging.

3It works, but could be better  Aug 30, 2011
By mark nielsen
This charger works fine -- my only gripe is that I wish it had some sort of indicator light to tell you that it's working, or that it's charging. You know, a red light while the battery is charging, a green light when it's done. Other than that, it's fine.

2Average to below average charger  Oct 27, 2011
By Rattler
Like others have said, it would be nice to KNOW it is doing something? there is no indicator light to show it IS charging? You just hook it up and go on faith.

This is a SMALL CHARGER designed for small TABBED rechargeable batteries " For use with sealed lead acid batteries" - THIS IS NOT FOR LAWN TRACTOR BATTERIES OR YOUR CAR BATTERY - I can't believe people here buy this little charger and expect miracles?

READ THE DESCRIPTION - FIRST THING IS SAYS "For use with sealed lead acid batteries".

The fact it can do 6 volt and 12 volt is why I purchased it - but it would be nice to at least have an indicator light to show it is actually doing something, like just about all the other chargers with this design.

1Basically a power supply, not a charger  Jan 28, 2012
By amazonbuyer
Yes, it does charge a battery. Sortof. There's nothing on it (or any documentation included) to indicate regulation, so I suspect the only "regulation" is that the output voltage is less than the float voltage on a SLA, doesn't seem to put out more than about 12.6VDC while charging - this appears to be a 12V transformer with alligator clips. I guess you get what you pay for, but I will probably swap this out for something that regulates closer to 13V when I get around to it.
