A Good Start Jul 25, 2011
By Musicnista Pros:
There are a ton of lessons. The beginner lessons start with learning how develop a finger picking style. This is great for me because when I first started to play, I kept dropping the guitar pick and was struggling to figure out how to play properly with my fingers. However, all the lessons do not use finger picking. The more advanced lessons, like how to play power chords, do require the use of a guitar pick.
Another plus are the video playback options, replay and slow motion. Both of these help in repetition practice and understanding detailed finger movements.
This package comes with a Bonus DVD. It is one long lesson featuring Mundo Juillerat, who comes off as very kind and friendly. It's almost like he's sitting in the room with me.
Cons:
The songs being taught on the software and Bonus DVD are old-fashioned and boring. I understand why they pick these songs. They are considered "timeless", easy to learn and use all the basic and most popular chords.
The interactive screen does not change size. Meaning, it can't be expanded to fit the entire computer screen. Everything plays out in this window, the written lessons and videos. This is extremely annoying and this is a major flaw in the software design.
Overall, this package is a great start for anyone learning the guitar.
