Simple, effective, easy to store Dec 02, 2008

The Progressive Grater set is everything I hoped it would be: sturdy, well designed, simple to use, easy to clean and store, and an ideal size. The product could be improved with a solid insert for the lid so the user could store the grated product in the 'frig ready for use. That is absolutely the only thing it lacks. You're sure to love this handy gadget.

I'm no Iron Chef.. But Hot Dang.. This can grade like a MS70 Coin Jul 01, 2008
By Patrick Sherman This thing is fantastic.. SOLID feeling, all the cheese goes into the tray/bowl/dispenser. No longer are you faced with a grader over a plate that can't spread wide enough to get a plate under..
This is a must buy..

Not as good a value as I thought Mar 26, 2010
By Al Verbenko First, I'll tell you that I've only used this product once so far. It was yesterday. I used the slicer plate to prepare onions and peppers for a stir fry. It did what it was supposed to do fairly well. The blade wasn't as sharp as I'd have liked and I think that impacted the performance a bit.
My biggest gripe with this item is that it isn't as big as the pictures make it out to be. The grating surface is actually quite narrow. So you won't be able to get large chunks of cheese or whole veggies on there unless you cut them up first.
Now onto the good: I like how you can store this thing. All the plates fit inside it nicely. When assembling, you can't put it together wrong because everything only fits together one way. Clean up after use was a snap. I didn't even have to toss it in the dish washer. Just a good rinse with some hot water and it looked like new again.
If you need some light grating, this isn't a bad way to go. It was just disappointing to get a smaller than expected product.

Originally received this grater years ago from Mom and used it till it fell apart. Finally found a replacement and had to buy 2 just in case. BTW, Mom was happy also... she bought 3!

Nice grater but the "hand guard" is a joke! Jul 15, 2010
By J. Lee Got this grater recently and really like it. The compartment makes it easy to collect the cheese. It could have been a bit wider but it works well still. The grating plates also work well individually if you want to quickly grate cheese over food on the fly. My only complaint is with the hand guard - that piece of plastic with little spikes that is supposed to grip the cheese and protect your hands as you grate. Great concept but poor execution. The spikes don't really dig that far into the cheese and end up sliding off the cheese as you grate, also creating deep scratches in the process. Pretty useless for the most part.
Other than that it does its job well.
