Nearly perfect Aux-In solution Mar 14, 2012
By Jeff W I've had this item installed in my wife's car for over a week now, and we're getting so much use out of it I've already ordered a second for my vehicle. That's how highly we think of it.
We both own GM vehicles (hers: 2007 Chevy Malibu Maxx, his: 2004 Chevy Trailblazer) and neither stock radio had an aux-in port for our Apple products (iPad, Nano, or iPod), our daughter's DVD player or PS3, or my Samsung Galaxy S II. We travel quite a bit by car, and we enjoy sharing the entertainment instead of having everyone put on earphones while the driver gets control of the radio by default. We had tried the cheaper FM transmitter, which had mixed results on the Trailblazer. All brands (and we tried 3 different ones) were all a miserable failure on the Malibu Maxx due to the fact that the antenna is located at the rear of the vehicle. Since FM transmitters have a short transmission radius, the antenna was always too far away to be effective. We also tried the Dynex cassette adapter with the Trailblazer, but the audio was murky and muffled.
We don't like removing perfectly good stock radios from our vehicles, so after researching other alternatives on how to integrate our various audio devices, I decided to give the modulator a try. I'm a fairly handy guy, and while I had never gotten too involved with any of my vehicles' wiring in the past, this seemed like a relatively straightforward task. I was pretty accurate. The installation took about 2 hours total on the Malibu, and I'm sure it will go faster with the Trailblazer now that I'm familiar with it.
A few things you need to know: 1) Know how to remove the trim from your vehicle to successfully remove/access your radio. I did a Google search and found the exact walk-through I needed. 2) Know that the kit does not ship with everything you need, notably a wire-nut if you intend to splice into your radio's power supply (which is what I did). It also does not ship with a 3.5mm/RCA Y-adapter, which can be found at Best Buy and other places but are cheaper on here. 3) GM vehicles WILL need an antenna adapter! Surprisingly, I found the cheapest solution at Walmart, of all places. They sell a universal antenna adapter in their automotive section with the rest of their after-market radios, and it costs only $8.00. I wasted two trips; one to Radio Shack (they had no idea what I was talking about) and AutoZone (which directed me to Walmart).
My wife was so thrilled she had to call me from her car after hooking it up to her iPod. There is a slight drop-off in overall volume, but unless you're trying to blow out the windows this shouldn't be an issue for most. You may also have to adjust the EQ settings on your device, or turn off Bass Booster on any Apple product.
The bottom line is we now have a one-point access solution for any audio device that has a 3.5mm output, which is practically universal. There is a more expensive model if you're looking to only run Apple devices that can tie in to your vehicle's radio controls, but as I said - we have a variety of different devices and the 3.5 jack is found on everything. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's not a complete, ready-to-go kit, and this may sound nit-picky, but I wish the 'on/off' switch was lit so it could be easier and faster to find at night. Aside from that, it's a great product that does exactly what it says.
Great product May 17, 2012
By rpd8228 Easy set up works great well worth the price. After figuring out how to take my dash apart the install was very simple. The sound is as good as playing a cd in my cd player. Could not be happier.
Exactly What I Wanted In an Aux Input May 13, 2012

Great FM modulator for the price. Not too difficult to wire into the car's power, but you should do some research as to what to do if this is your first splicing experience. An added bonus to owning this device is that you don't have to worry about the audio cables becoming frayed or shorting out as you attach your own via the RCA ports. That right there was the major selling point for me.

By Rusty this is easy to install and works great. sound quality is as good as the best radio station. I soldered in the connects, but I guess that isn't necessary
Excellent May 07, 2012
By MATT I installed this unit in my Jeep. With the factory radio that it has, it doesn't have the ability to handle another input. The sound is good quality coming from this unit. The volume has to be turned up a little higher than the other radio stations, but some of that has to do with the files being played from my media player. I really didnt' want to have to change out the factory radio, and this does the trick perfectly to add the auxiliary input. Highly recommend.
