Great parent child project Apr 06, 2010
By Jennifer L. Lantz I sat down with my teenage son and we had a great conversation while putting this together. The nuts and bolts are really small and he couldn't get them in-his fingers were too big. It took us about 45 minutes to put together. The wings move, the bottom legs swing all over and the front legs are posable. All in all- for a model, I think it was great and it looks terrific sitting up by my plants. It is a very thin aluminum so it is a true put together and look at model It is too delicate to be a play with toy, but it was fun to put together.

Pretty cool toy, but you can't play with it Dec 02, 2008
By Megan Wolfarth I guess I was expecting more than what I got. It was fun to put together, but once I did, I wasn't sure what to do with it! I have it sitting on my TV stand because I am afraid to put it anywhere else. Some of the parts do not require you to screw the pieces together completely, so if you do play with the mantis, you have to adjust the screws. Overall, it's cool and I would recommend it for a Christmas gift. I think my expectations were too high.
Mega Mantis Kit Apr 16, 2012

"KST"
This is a kit of a praying Mantis. It has a lot of very small parts made of aluminum. I have a thirteen year old grandson who put it together in about two hours. It was very life like when finished. I was impressed.
Very Cool But Difficult To Assemble Dec 30, 2011
By smartnfunnygirl First off, this is not a toy. It's meant to be assembled and then displayed, not to be played with. The parts are high quality and the finished product is amazing to look at. You have to follow the instructions very carefully or building it will be impossible.
Parents, you will probably find yourselves taking over building it after the first couple of steps. It requires patience and fine motor skills.
The end result, as a display piece, is worth it. I would give it 5 stars, except I think it's being sold with unrealistic expectations about how easy it is to assemble.
Better than I hoped. Dec 03, 2010
By Dea in Columbia Having seen balsa wood kits like this, I didn't have very high expectations, but it seemed like it would be a fun little gift. I was happily surprised at the quality and detail. Has various moving parts and seems pretty durable. Finished mantis is cool looking and makes a fine addition to the desktop collection or even as a patio ornament...
