good review Jul 19, 2010
By Jaybird I used this for a review of my high school and college French before going on a 10 day trip to France. It was a great refresher and allowed me to start off speaking some simple French when I arrived there, and I built from there. I will save and use it again before future trips.

not worth your time or money, try something else Jul 23, 2010
By k.n.h. Unless you know the language already, you will be in trouble with this program. You can either look at flashcards or watch a video where they do not teach you all of the vocabulary needed to understand the lesson.
The only thing this program seems to be any good for is perfecting your ear to be able to understand what native speakers sound like. Even the vocabulary cards seem to be a waste of time since they are random and sometimes obscure. Why would you want to know how to talk about a sociology class in the first lesson? It seems strange to me that this would be a beginning lesson even before "Bonjour" is introduced. How many people are going to need to talk about sociology classes?
There is also the option to cheat with this program, since you can set it to accept answers as correct. WHY WOULD THE PROGRAMMERS PUT THIS OPTION IN ANY LEARNING SOFTWARE? It just doesn't make sense.
Rosetta Stone seems to be a much more intuitive program and you are forced to learn from your mistakes rather than have the ability to set the program to accept them.

By whytfawn I have never tried to learn a language before and didn't know what to expect from this product. This is an excellent tool for me. The speech recognition is very helpful in sounding out the words. I have already recommended this product to a family member.

I've enjoyed the software and made progress with it, however I found that some antivirus software stripped the instant immersion functionality, and did so even after reinstallation. Otherwise, it seems like an excellent value and I look forward to using it more.
