solid product - works wonderfully. Bought one for each car. Apr 21, 2006
By S. McMaster I installed the unit myself connecting it directly to the cars stereo so it mutes the radio when the call comes in and uses the cars existing speakers for audio. Though I had to order special connector from the dealer to do this. Even the mic location was built into the car. (an Audi) When I make calls with the IHF 1000, people on the other end of the conversation find it hard to believe that I'm in a car. Well developed and vastly better then some factory systems I've experienced. Voice dialing is a little tricky at first because you have to speak fast and consistantly. In fact it will recognize the numbers faster than you can speak! It also helps to memorize many of the voice commands in case it doesn't understand you the first time. For instance, if you speak a wrong number you can go back and edit the number without repeating the whole phone number over again. Links perfectly with all of our phones - V3 and V600 - and it can even call and receive from either phone while both are connected. You can link up to four phones at one time. It used to say "call ended" before answering a call but then I was pressing the wrong button when answering. I cannot imagine driving without such a device in our cars.

Safe, simple handsfree operation Aug 17, 2006
By Gina Madsen This car kit is wonderful! We had it professionally installed and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to get it up and running. I have it paired with both my phone and my husband's and it recognizes which phone is in the car and announces "Phone two ready" as soon as the car is started. The sound quality on both ends is phenomenal. When my husband calls me, despite the fact we have a pretty loud Mini with a manual transmission, I can hear him as if he's holding the phone to his ear in a library! I would highly recommend this product, especially for those people who find themselves juggling more than one task in the car at once.

Relatively Hands-free Oct 10, 2006
By J. Dorman I purchased this system about a year ago and had it installed by a professional. The system works beautifly with my Moto V551 and is without major bugs. The names I store in it are easily accessed and it can even tell the differance between my similar named contacts i.e. Call Chris L. or call Chris R. The only PROBLEM I have had with the system is it has a difficult time making voice number dialed calls. It sometimes reverses the numbers five and nine, and also when its not sure what you've said it simply adds a one. I have tried this in a dead silent car and it still has trouble. You can improve your success rate by simply saying the numbers in the seperate groups for example the area code first: "509" then wait for it to repeat then confirm, then give it the prefix, wait for confirmation and then continue. With the exception of the before mentioned problem I love this system and it has saved me a lot of fumbling and swerving in the end. My friends don't see many of these where I live and so I also have to put up with them calling it the "Bat-phone" But this is a great system!!!

IHF 1000 Jun 01, 2007
By Daniel K. Schuster Just installed it myself in my 1998 Expedition. Paired it with my Motorola RAZR. I wanted to have the audio come through the factory speakers, but I couldn't find a compatible T-harness for my model year, so I had to use the speaker that came with the unit. The audio from the IHF 1000 speaker is VERY good, so not being able to use the factory speakers turned out to be not a big deal at all. Without the T-harness, you'll need to connect 3 wires to your vehicle: Ground, +12V battery, and +12V Ignition. I've only used it a couple of days but I haven't had a single voice command misfire yet. I mounted the microphone on the headliner to the left of the driver's visor. The 20 numbers you can program right into the unit makes this model worth the extra money. You have to issue a couple extra voice commands to access all the voice tags in the RAZR, so I have about 6 numbers I call most often programmed into the IHF1000 and access all the other numbers in my RAZR through additional voice commands. I've used the Motorola ear-piece and speaker phone units clipped on the visor. They're not even in the same league.

Excellent hands-free operation Jan 31, 2007
By Conor P. Cahill I bought this for my wife, although I do have to admit I was unable to buy it from amazon -- after two attempts (original order, and replacement order), in which they sent me a palm treo skin instead of the IHF1000, I just canceled the order and ordered elsewhere.
When we opened the package (it was an xmass present) I took a look at the install and decided I didn't have the time to deal with it, so I went by the local Best Buy store and they agreed to install it for $80. Installation went great and looks much better than it would had I installed it.
It works great. Even when I programmed in a number with my voice, she was able to use that programming. When the car starts up, the system announces that it has found "phone 1" (my wife's RAZR) and she can then dial and/or answer without having to take the phone out of her purse.
Hopefully amazon has fixed their problem with order processing of this item, but that shouldn't impinge the item itself.
Update: We've since bought two others of these devices (one for each of our cars) and really love it. My wife says (and I agree), it's the best way to use a phone in the car. We've used them with Motorola and Nokia phones as well as with my Apple iPhone with no issues across brands.
