Also fits BMW 36mm oil filter housing Jul 28, 2008
By WetShaver Lisle says, "The low profile socket fits both the 35mm and 36mm fuel and oil filters. The low profile socket works in confined spaces. 3/8" drive. Not for use with an impact wrench." on their website. This socket also fits the BMW 36mm oil filter and works well. This item is sturdy but I would agree that I is not impact wrench sturdy. If your looking for a all purpose socket them this is not for you. If you are looking for a good socket for oil changes, than this is the right socket, with low cost and coated for easy clean up it is hard to beat.

This fits my 328I BMW and is a lot cheaper than one from BMW. Quality is fine.

This is the one Sep 29, 2008
By JDHill This is what you need to get the caps off the oil filter and water separator fuel filter on your Ford 6.0 diesel. Should outlast the diesel.

This is the one for you VW volks! Feb 25, 2011
By G.B. R. I ordered this for removing the filter housing for my 2008 VW Passat with the 2.0 turbo engine. (I then pop in the Mann filter insert, also available from Amazon.)
Fits perfectly. I have a 1/2" drive so attach a 3/8" adapter to it...no problems. Tip: When unscrewing, keep the wrench on the correct plane, perpendicular to the socket. I have heard of some folks going at this from an angle, tugging hard, and cracking the reusable filter housing.

DIY oil change socket Oct 18, 2010
By Planopurist Great tool. Robust design. I used this to change the oil filter on my 2003 BMW 330i and my 2007 Volvo S40. Worked great. I would recommend this for any DIY oil change requireing a 36mm socket. In fact, I would recommend it for you if you get your oil changed at any of the "quick lube" centers, tire shops, discount stores (i.e. Costco, Sam's, Walmart, etc) just so you know they use the right tool, NOT an adjustable wrench or locking pliers. Just make sure you get it back from them. Low profile design was almost necessary for the Volvo because the filter housing is slightly tucked away in the engine compartment.
