I LOVE THIS BLENDER!!!!!! Mar 19, 2010
By K. Gill I owned a Hamilton Beach blender and food processor combo unit for over 10 years and loved it.....I used it every day until I wore it out. (I'd say a 10 year run is really a good run!) Because I loved my previous Hamilton Beach blender/food processor, I decided to look at blenders in the Hamilton Beach line again, and was very impressed at the wide selection they offer. My food processing and blending needs have increased as I have had a lot of dental work done recently, and still need more done, so I need a lot of smoothies and purees right now, so I use it more than once/day. There were no reviews for this blender on Amazon, but there were 3 reviews on WalMart's site, and everyone loved it, so I decided to give it a try. The features I wanted were 1.) A glass jar 2.) High power, low piercing sound 3.) Sturdy, solid base 4.) No push buttons for easy cleaning 5.) Stainless steel/black to match my kitchen/sleek, retro look because I leave it out on the counter 6.) Cord storage so there wasn't excess cord showing on the counter 7.) High performance 8.) Leak proof bottom of blender 9.) Wave action 10.) Sharp blades 11.) Easy to take apart and clean.... Boy, oh boy, does this baby meet every one of my hopes and dreams!!!!!!!!.......The base is not a heavy metal, so it is easy for me to handle, too.....The glass jar has a beautiful, classy light green tint to it.....(you can see it on the handle).....I like the wider glass jar verses a taller narrower one, too.....I love the easy to use pulse and speed dial....high and low feature, too.....perfect amount of "speeds", in my opinion.....I love the pour spout on the glass jar, my other blender didn't have that and I was always a little annoyed when I went to pour purees out of it and it drizzled down the side....whatever, pretty small annoyance on that blender because I still loved it and got my money's worth!......Over-all, this is an A-1 blender in every aspect of my compliment of it.....Props to the small appliance engineer who designed it!!!!....Love it, Love it, Love it.....Thanks Hamiliton Beach!!!!!!!!!

Wanna be disappointed? Mar 20, 2011
By DR, Duarte, CA I bought this Wave crusher blender at Walmart to make our favorite eggplant dip (baba ganough) which I had been making with a 30-40 year old Hamilton Beach-Scovill, mustard yellow 7 speed push button blender. My decision to replace it was simply because I wanted one with a larger glass blending jar, instead of the smaller old style plastic one.
Big mistake.
This new model HB blender will NOT blend anything unless it's ALREADY in a liquid state. Broiled eggplant is very light and watery and this blender will not mix it up unless you turn it off, use a spoon to mix by hand then turn it back on again - several times. What a hassle. I quickly discovered that if I added a little water, and shook the hell out of it while it was ON, it would help, but I only wanted to make a creamy dip, not eggplant soup...
More problems... There is NO difference in speed when using the Hi-Lo switch on any of the 3 speeds on the speed knob. I noticed another reviewer here had the same problem, so I am confident this is not my imagination. So... Is the Hi-Lo switch just for decoration? Also, the plastic lid is a VERY tight fit and is difficult to put on or take off. The opening to add ingredients is small (unless you want to stick a funnel in it to add liquid. I am expecting that the small plastic cap that seals the opening will probably get lost soon.
WORSE YET....
To my great surprise, after using this thing only once and leaving it on the counter top for the last few weeks, the stainless steel housing is completely coated with RUST!! I was able to polish most of it off with some good old fashioned elbow grease - but seriously folks - this is not supposed to be required regular maintenance on any stainless kitchen appliance.
Until now I had always trusted Hamilton Beach products but since this is a cheap "Made in China" product, I am no longer a believer. I'm going back to using my trusty 1960's era blender. It's old, it's ugly and it's small but it still works.
Although I like the larger glass jar, the Wave Crusher blender is a joke. Don't waste your time or money.
UPDATE: March 28, 2011 Motor has burned out! Completely dead. Used it about 10 minutes making hummus. Not worth getting a replacement so in the trash it goes.

I bought this blender at the same time I bought the GE Rocket at Walmart. After a few months of almost daily use of one or the other, I've been very pleased. I followed the directions, careful to use enough liquid and cut fruit, etc. I also wipe clean with every usage. My teenagers even use them. Great for morning smoothie or cool, fresh snack. Some of the poor reviews had me worried, but I'm glad I tried them. I got both for just under $50 -- what a bargain!

Works fine for me... Apr 08, 2011

Just bought this at Walmart today and I have used it twice. I have had a LOT of trouble with blenders in the past--I have bought a very expensive one just to have it burn out in a few months after never really working correctly in the first place--and I bought this one after trying a different model at a friend's house. It worked great! Yes, if you make the mixture too thick, it will not blend. This is the way with all blenders. But I made a nice frozen banana, berries, and yogurt smoothie without any hassle. I did stir it once or twice, but that was more to make sure that all the skins from the cherries were not sitting on top. Overall, for less than one quarter of what I paid for a "quality" blender, it works just fine.

VERY PLEASED Feb 09, 2011

I have only used my blender once so if it conks out I will post another review but as far as making my smoothie, I am happy. I added crushed ice, frozen fruit, along with milk and yogurt and it blended this with no problem. For years, I had a blender that could not handle this without constant stirring and waiting until this concoction would melt somewhat. I would also need to add more milk or juice. I needed a good 20 minutes to make a smoothie. Very frustrating. I should have bought a new blender a long time ago, instead I just didn't make smoothies very often. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a new blender. I bet since this is so much better I will be using it more often.
