I bought nerf weapons for a lot of my family for Christmas. My son and nephew are both in the 1-2 year old range and needed something different. This is a good item.
As foam balls go, these are pretty heavy and durable. The kids can throw them pretty far, but they won't hurt anything that is even vaguely kid-proofed. You shouldn't wing one at Aunt Helga's Hummels or anything, but normal household items are safe.
Our only downside is ownership confusion with the dog. Great value in a toy.

The foam balls are being used by my teenage son that put a basketball hoop up in his bedroom. The balls don't destroy the ceiling or the rest of the walls. Plus I don't hear the noise when he makes a shot.

I bought this foam ball for my 5 year old son, so that he could practice soccer inside without hurting the walls, windows, furniture, etc. This ball is perfect. It is soft enough to not hurt anything, but heavy enough to kick around. Also is useful for teaching heading of the soccer ball, because it is soft enough that the kid is not scared of it. My son loves to play with it. I would highly recommend it for young kids for both (1) indoor soccer practice and (2) learning how to head the ball.

Bought this ball for my toddler granddaughter. She loves to throw anything that is round and looks like a ball!! This soft ball works well because she can grip it, and throw it without causing too much damage in the house. She also loves the bright yellow color!
