Heavy-duty peace of mind Dec 21, 2008
By B. Darcy My wife and I were faced with a conundrum: we just bought a house this past summer, don't have a lot of spare cash laying around, but know that we can't skip the outlay for a real tree this year. After all, it's our first Christmas in our new home. So when last week's ice storm brought down a 22-foot bough from one of our white pines we jumped at our good fortune. The problem? This bough was heavy as hell - even after I would trim it down to 16-feet in arched glory. Our plastic Walmart tree stand was out. So, yesterday, Dec 20, 2008, we went to our local Waterloo garden center and bought this stand at 40% off its original price of $160 (i.e., ~$100). We were hoping to find a stand with a bit more design panache - but now this one's completely grown on us. It's functional but it's got a great festivus red finish. It holds A LOT of water. And the tri-pod design - versus a circular frame - adds to the versatility of placing the tree closer to the wall then you ever could with a similarly rated round tree stand. Speaking of ratings, we are definitely stressing the design parameters here with a 16' pine bough that arches out into the center of the room... so I've also anchored the bough to the wall. But most people won't do what we've done - and I'm not sure we'll ever repeat ourselves! This stand is truly the last stand you'll ever own. Unless you upsize to a bigger house (and a bigger tree)!

It works! Dec 28, 2010
By Blochgirl This stand really works. In past years, putting up the tree was one of the most un-Christmas like moments of the holidays as my husband tried to get the tree straight in the stand. Last year he had to put weights on the stand after the fully decorated tree fell over while we were away. But this stand worked beautifully! He put the tree in the stand and made a few minor adjustments and it was done! No angry words spoken. He says the stand is very stiff and holds the tree firmly. I say - rejoice - no falling trees and peace reigns!

Worth every penny Dec 05, 2010
By Lynne E. Pitcairn My husband and I have owned four tree stands, this is our fifth and definitely our last. Before this, the joke in our family was that you could always buy us new ornaments for Christmas because our trees ALWAYS fell down. This is our second year with this stand and we love it. We even put the tree up without starting an argument. As my husband and I were drinking our coffee this morning in front of our soon to be decorated tree we marveled at how much we love this stand. I was so inspired that I decided to turn on the computer to write this review. We usually buy a ten foot tree and if you like tall trees, like we do or have monkey children, like we do, you have to buy this stand.

Enough water to leave for vacation Dec 20, 2010
By Real X-mas Tree aficiando I considered the 8-9' Bowlings tree stand, but decided to go with the 10-12' instead. The 10-12' isnt much larger in diameter than the smaller stands, but it holds much more water. The larger the tree is, the less water it will hold. But you could put a 8-9' tree in this stand and it will hold enough water to go away (vacation) for 2-3 days. If you get the smaller stand, it will only hold enough water for 1 or 2 days. The 10-12' stand will still be able to hold a 4-8' tree easily. The screww fasteners that hold the trunk will get small enough to hold about a 1" diameter tree. We've already had a friend who's tree fell over this year. Ha Ha Ha, I laugh at their decision to try and skimp and save a buck on a tree stand. I'd never have anything less with small chindlren in the house. They could probably even climb the tree, and it wouldn't fall over. Get this stand, you'll like it. Make sure and get a mat to set it on. It will scratch wood floors.
A Happy Holiday!!! Apr 26, 2012
By Rock Lady Our tree is always around 10-11 feet high and I can't tell you how many years it had fallen over, sometimes twice in one year!! This is large, sturdy and can hold more water than any other we have had. I forgot about writing a review because I wanted to wait to see if it made it through the season. Mission accomplished. I believe this is the last tree stand we will have to buy.
