Bad motor Jun 18, 2010
By Lola I bought this to shred cheese. The motor is so weak that if you pushed down too hard, the blade would completely stop spinning. I am returning this and paying the $15 extra to get a better unit.

Works OK but the power cord is a joke Mar 12, 2011
By John L. Walker I bought this at the local Target several months ago as I was making a couple of dishes that required a lot of chopping and I didn't want to do it by hand. The price was very reasonable, not as low as Amazon's but I needed it now and it was sort of an impulse purchase.
It works fine for chopping mushrooms and onions and for shredding parmesan cheese, haven't tried it for anything else.
My one gripe is that the power cord is ridiculously short, about 8 inches. The outlets above my kitchen counter are about an inch higher than this cord is long so even with the machine set directly below the outlet it won't sit flat on the countertop. And it's not a good arrangement to have the machine all the way back against the wall anyway. This design shortcoming makes an extension cord a virtual necessity to use this thing. I don't know if the cord length is what it is to save a few pennies in manufacturing cost or if it is meant to be a "safety" feature of some kind but at least in my case it changes a great little machine into a loser. I notice that cord length is not listed in the specs for any appliance, at least not in any specs I can find. Wonder why?

Cheap Unit Aug 01, 2010
By Andy F I bought this thinking Oster is a good name. I got home and looked for a manual and figured maybe someone opened the box and removed it then went to [...]. Says it is not avaialble. I find it hard to believe that any company selling any electirc appliance let alone one that shreds things would not write a manual for it. Can you spell LIABILITY? The unit is garbage. Motor is not good. Save your money and get a better machine....

Well.... it did shred Feb 25, 2011
By QBD I have been looking for a food processor for a few months now. I previously had an OSTER that worked great, so when I saw this one on clearance, I came home with it. I took it out of the package, cleaned it up and shredded some cheese. While it DID shred, the motor stopped when you pushed the cheese through the chute. So I am cleaning it up, packaging it up and returning it.

Awful. Broke and can't get replacement parts Mar 17, 2012
By Kimberly Causey Well, it worked fine for awhile, then the tab on the cheap plastic food container broke. Now it won't work at all. Oster gives no way to get a replacement online. They say I have to "go to a service center", and there are none in my state or in my neighboring states. Guess I'm out of luck. I can say that if I have to buy an entire new unit, which is ridiculous since the motor is fine, it sure won't be an Oster. What a crappy product, and crappier customer service.
