Good product so far, but noisier and with less capacity than I thought Dec 04, 2010
By Rene Tenazas I've had this wine cooler for a couple of months now. Overall, it does the job it was intended to do. I keep both red and white wines in it, by keeping the temperature at 56F. That's borderline low for red, and borderline high for white, so it's not perfect. But, I was prepared for that because it is a single-zone cooler after all.
My wife and I don't drink that much wine (2 bottles a week, more if we have guests over). I had planned to purchase a second unit, so that we'd have one for red wines, and a separate one for white wines. But, we're happy with the borderline temperature setting so far.
The spacing of the metal racks is barely sufficient for regular-size bottles. We have problems with any wine bottles that are wider or taller than usual, even if they are 750 ml. We end up having to use the space with no racks in order to stack wide bottles directly on top of each other. We can't place any of the longer-necked bottles (some white wines are like that).
My biggest complaint is the fan. It's a lot noisier than I thought, and it seems to cycle on and off very frequently (much noisier and more frequent than our ref). When the house is quiet, it can be disturbing. I have no idea if this cycling will reduce the lifespan of the product.

Acceptable Wine Cooler Oct 18, 2010
By Jerry This cooler is okay. It does the job. It's attractive, quiet, inexpensive, with easy to operate controls. The only problem: setting the display at 60 degrees yields a temperature of 66 degrees. No big deal, just allow for the 6 degree differential at all degree settings. Also being able to place 4 bottles vertical is a nice feature.

Finally - open bottles can be kept chilled Aug 09, 2011
By frcgator The only thing missing is a two zone capability to keep whites and reds at different temps. At the low price I paid - guess I could buy another one.

Nice unit. Jan 03, 2012
By taxed Mom Bottle stand up is the reason I bought this unit. Really nice feature. Seems to keep bottles at desired temp (can do white or red temps). Only downsides are that 1) it isn't the nicest looking unit from the front and 2) when the fan runs it is fairly loud - neither complaints bad enough to return it, just an observation to be considered.

All cheap coolers are cheaply made May 13, 2012
By Richard Conard
"tool freak"
Got about 5 years service from Avanti 28 bottle cooler, used for everyday wines. These coolers are not made like kitchen frigs. My mom has a Kenmore frig in her garage that is about 40 years old and still works fine. Coolers of this Avanti level of quality last about 5 years unless you pay more for a better one. You get what you pay for is sure the truth with these cheaply made coolers. If you intend to store/collect for more than 5 years, get a good one(I recommend a compresser type) that will last, as you will pay more in the long run for 3 or more of these cheapies for the same number of years service.
As quality brands change over time, do an online ratings search for the best coolers in all price ranges. If price is no object, I would get a Perlick, but a pretty good one for the price is Vinotemp. The dampened compressor models cost more than cheap thermoelectrics but last much longer, like a frig. Again, it pays to buy quality here. I have a bottle of wine worth $2000, and would never store it in a cheapie cooler that costs 10 times less than that wine.
