My rating is for the actual item! Feb 10, 2011
By Darrin L. Todd I don't know why people think they need to rate an item poorly if the store they bought it from sent the Euro version, sent it in a damaged box or gave them lousy service. What does that have to do with rating the performance of the item? Anyway, I will comment on the transactive drummer: First of all, I'm not going to compare my transactive to a $700 Simmons amplifier. I gave less that $200 and for what I paid for it, it's a decent amp. Will it blast a concert hall? No. Will it be good for practicing at home? Yes. -As long as you don't have squeeling guitars and bass to contend with. It's not super powerful, though I knew by the wattage it was going to be no powerhouse. The real power starts to come when you daisy-chain two or more together (I got a second one used at a local music store for a $100 and the two of them are pretty decent). Then you have stereo sound. -Still won't do a concert hall, but it will probably gig a small club. The Ipod attachment on the top is pretty handy; plugs in with no issues. If I ever decide to gig with them, I'll probably purchase a much more powerful amping system and save these for home use.
The sound? Well, just like any other electronic drum amp, it does well replicating drums, but degrades pretty quickly when you try cymbals. I've only seen a few amps do well with cymbals, but those cost 5-10 times as much, so again, you get what you pay for.

Works as expected for 50 watt amp Feb 02, 2011
By Hardhit Purchased for just under 200 on Amazon - which I felt was a good deal for what was received. Sound is fine for electronic drum kit practice room and Ipod dock puts out great loud music (actually a nice dock station). Cords were not included. Standard RCA jacks for aux port seem to work fine. Split y 1/4 inch to 1/8th stereo line cable is not so easy to find but not required if using the aux port. Happy with purchase and shipping was quick

By Paul Stuart Ralphes I have never written a review before, but felt that I had to write this after a day with my Alesis Transactive Drummer. It is a great product and is worth the price alone just as an extremely powerful iPod sound system (it would be great for home parties). Loud, clear and with a good bass end, you really can't go wrong for $200. Use it for electronic drum practicing or as a mini PA for a party. Buy and enjoy.

By just a guy awesome. How about a little action? If it makes sense, cut to the product in use as you describe your experiences with it.

Sent a Euro version Dec 07, 2010
By port86 I purchased this item for my son's drum set as a Christmas Present. Thankfully, I did so early because when I received it, I noticed that the outside box had a number of options for plug type and voltage. My box was marked as a Euro plug type with a voltage of 230 I think. I opened it up, and sure enough, it was the Euro version. They took it back, no problem, with a full refund. But they could not tell me if this was a mistake, or if all of the amps were Euro versions. So if you order this, check the box and make sure it is the right type. The last bizarre twist is that the information says that it is only available for delivery in the U.S.
