More Great Garage Band Stuff - These are Real Instruments... not Loops! Jul 19, 2011
By A. FLYNN I use Garage Band all the time and have all of the Jam Packs that are available for it. I decided to get the Expansion Pack because I felt that Garage Band lacked some real time Instruments. For the price, this is a pretty good purchase.
First of all, what this is not.... This is not like the Jam Packs that you can buy in addition to the basic Garage Band program that comes with you Mac. The Jam Packs have Loops and this doesn't. These are real time instruments. These additional instruments are not Loops, I repeat these are real time instruments. So if you are using Garage Band to "play in" your original pieces and need some more instruments this is for you. If you want more Loops, they are not found in this Expansion Pack.
I am a Pianist and am excited that there are a lot more real time Piano instruments and sounds. I like the Harpsichords and it is full of many types of Hammond Organs that are just really way cool. And it also has some really cool Mandolins and Bagpipes that I love. There are also some Brass Instruments that are not available in Garage Band.
When I showed it to my Piano teacher he was very excited about it too. He is a Jazz musician and some of the jazz Brass Instruments that are here are really cool. If you want more sounds, for the price - this is a great Expansion Pack. If you want more Loops... do not buy this pack.
The Garage Band Jam Packs do have real instruments in them, and they also have loops.. this product, I repeat, does not include loops, but it has some really cool instruments.

Customer Support from Hell Mar 10, 2012
By Dave Kitabjian Purchased this product from a 3rd party (unopened, box still sealed), and the box stated: ""Visit [...] and download 5 more ExpansionPack Instruments after installation!"" I contacted them since I couldn't find this link on their website. All of my responses since have come from "Matt", and I'll paste snippets below. He asked where I purchased it, and I told him it was from a 3rd party. My best guess is that he is upset that the purchase didn't happen directly from their website, and so he's bitter that they didn't make as much on the sale as possible. Or else, he's assuming that the install disk was illegally duplicated before it was sold to me, even though there's no reason to believe so, and, as I mentioned, the box was still sealed.
"Sorry whoever sold it to you breached their license terms and effectively sold you nothing. We can't support unlicensed products, please don't buy unlicensed products in future as the seller is violating the license terms and you are sub sequentially unlicensed to use the sounds.
Have a great weekend.
Cheers - Matt 8)"
"If I were you I would get my money back and buy a legitimate copy.
Cheers - Matt 8)"
I wrote back: "It is a legitimate copy. Buying it from a reseller doesn't make it illegitimate."
He responded: "I'm sorry Dave, really are. But you're simply not a customer. You're a customer of whoever sold you something they had no right to...It's no good complaining you don't have something you have not bought really either... You have bought nothing because no one has sold you anything they have any right to. It's really simple. If I sold you a lifetime supply of Pepsi and they knew nothing about it would you get mad with them or me?...To clarify, you are not licensed to use the product. The person who sold it to you isn't either as they breached the license terms and voided their license too. Neither of you are customers nor have the right to use this product and/or be supported therefore of course. We provide full support for our licensed users naturally."

Great add ons, 5 years ago Mar 18, 2012
By Laurence B. Budd This set of instruments for garage band are a lot less defined than the ones that come free with garageband. I compared several with the original garageband instruments- the garageband ones are much better- and free with the program. A couple are fun, like the accordions and trumpets, but overall, there is very little here worth paying for. The two voice choirs are terrible, even my 8 year old roland has much better voices. The hammond organs are very basic, nothing I would plug into a motown tune. The software did load quickly and correctly. So don't waste your money on this.

Could not even get it to work. Sep 19, 2011
By GG Waste of money, sad to say. My husband noted a misspelled word on the back, saying that was a bad sign right off the bat. He tried installing it, and it never worked. We gave up and purchased Apple Jam Packs, which were awesome and SO worth the money.
